Primary 2 Green

My name is Deborah Feludu. I obtained my Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) from Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education in 2005 and later proceeded to University of Benin, where l gained a Bachelor of Art/Education in English Language. Along with my course work I was placed in four very different, semester long, and student teaching/field experience settings. In doing so I was able to put the theories and information I learned in my class work to practice. Since graduation, I have taught a wide range of students from varying backgrounds in Nigeria and India and I am currently teaching Phonics to pupils from pre-school to lower primary. I am approaching my second year in Olumawu Basic Education School.

I believe each child is unique; therefore each child has their unique learning style. Therefore, I provide a variety of learning methods. If one method is not understood, I move on to another one. I think learning should be fun, so I occasionally play learning games where pupils feel relaxed while learning. I always provide rewards and incentives to encourage participation and increase self-esteem. One of the most important things I believe children need to succeed is a positive sense of self. When a child feels frustrated or hopeless they are less likely to crave for improvement. I begin praising at the students current level of achievement and then continue throughout the entire tutoring process.

I am looking forward to the beginning of a new academic year with a strong passion to attain greater height and opportunity to make a different in the life of all my students through education and inspiration.

Music has always been an important part of my life. I have been singing since six years of age and been the lead Alto in many choir and vocal performing groups. I play the flute.
